We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.

Book cover design for one of Kinghorn’s biggest characters, Auntie Nellie.

As the cover artwork suggests, it’s an intriguing collection of Kinghorn past and present, including many unforgettable tales of characters that left their mark over the years. Nellie Phillips has been writing for years, as many of you will already be aware. At the end of 2015 she decided, once and for all, to collate all her stories in the one place. The book begins in 1924 when Nellie was born at the leather works beside Kinghorn Loch, the youngest of seven children. It continues through her life in Kinghorn, telling stories about the community and her family.

Auntie Nellie’s Memoirs is priced at £10, with all profits going to Nellie’s favoured charities – the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, and Hospice Kids. The author has set up a bookshop in the corner of her sitting room, so what are you waiting for? Pick up your copy today!
